SIBO Specific Diet

This diet, designed by Dr. Allison Siebecker, combines the low FODMAPs and SCD diets. This diet is the most restrictive but may relieve more symptoms in some people. It is divided into categories of vegetables, fruits, legumes and beans, nuts and seeds, dairy, protein and meats, sweeteners, beverages and alcohol, fats and oils and seasonings and condiments. Within each food category, there are color coded columns for less fermentable to more fermentable foods. The less fermentable foods tend to be those that produce less symptoms for people with SIBO. The color coding is as follows:

  • green: least fermentable/SCD “legal”/low FODMAP
  • light yellow: SCD “legal”/moderate FODMAP
  • darker yellow: SCD “legal”/high FODMAP
  • red: SCD “illegal”/more fermentable
